- Luray Caverns, largest series of Caverns in the Eastern USA, open every day of the year. Tours start about every 20 minutes. Admission includes Caverns tour, Car Museum, Luray Valley Museum, Labyrinth
- Shenandoah National Park (SNP) with Skyline Drive and the Appalachian Trail (AT). A 105 mile drive between Front Royal and Waynesboro along the Ridge line of this easternmost of the ridges of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It has over 500 Miles of hiking trails of different levels of strenousness and length.
- Whiskey Wine Loop (discovershenandoah.com) lists several choices in different categories such as lodging, dining, breweries, distilleries, wineries, event venues. This website is a great resource for planning an itinerary.
- Enjoy the Shenandoah River. In season there is canoeing, kayaking, tubing, rafting and even fishing the river.
- Discover Luray’s special small shops downtown. As a sampling there are Shenandoah Moon (jewelry, gifts, beads, clothing), Virginia Gift shop (gifts, clothing), Appalachian Outdoor Adventure (all outdoor gear); Hawksbill Trading company (a local coop where small entrepreneurs sell their wares)
