Good afternoon!
First time I am writing while our website is 'live'. Exciting! Most of our young man muscle has left. Ale in back in Friesland, in the Netherlands, Ben is back in Ashburn playing French horn and Lukas is house sitting in Ashburn. Tom is holding down the fort here in Luray and is mowing our two acres with our 'little' mower from Ashburn. One of the riding mowers was picked up earlier this morning to get an overhaul at a mower clinic. Since we do not own a pick up truck 'yet' we need to use those services.
August 3 is getting closer, the first day I will be welcoming guests at South Court. Breakfast plans are swirling around in my head, baking ideas, groceries. We just got back from making a connection with our egg supplier, farm fresh from free range hens. Yes! You need to visit to find out where I pick them up. You will never guess! On Thursday I am picking up my first hand crafted MC2Confection truffles from Leesburg. Naturally I need to combine that with other errants in the northern Virginia area. That day Obama is coming to Leesburg, I heard. Personally I am hoping my chocolates will stay in pristine condition and do not have to weather the heat in unexpected ways, even if it is for presidential reasons. You think Obama will reimburse me for melted truffles?
Talk about unexpected... I learned how to get rid of groundhogs short of shooting them. Best is to put fresh corn on the cob in a trap and catch them that way. They go for corn is the word at the local coop. All the Luray folks we talked to recommend shooting them as the best idea. Hm...! Last night no success yet in the trap.
Only own bedroom and bathroom area need to still be finished getting unpacked.
Tom, Mike and I had a nice lunch in town at a new place:"The Purple Door" which really does have a purple door. You know preschool teachers are always attracted to colors. Well, I am still attracted to colors even though, no more preschool is coming my way. Anyway, we all really enjoyed our very fresh sandwiches and strawberry lemonade, but the best part might have been the frozen peanut butter pie for dessert! Yum!
